Carlos, what do you think of the idea? Xyzzy could just set up a mersenneforum redirect, maybe for nplb.mersenneforum.org, and have it point to crus.dynip.telepac.pt--thus, giving us two separate names for the same server (without having to change the domain for the CRUS server!).

Sorry for the delay of my answer. It's better to not change the domain of the server, too much entropy. Thanks for the offer Xyzzy.

Please decide what work to add to the server and its port number....

Hmm...well, CRUS is already running on ports 443 and 444--we could use 442 (445 is used for Windows stuff so we can't use it), but I'm thinking that instead, maybe we should grab a port elsewhere entirely to avoid confusion with the CRUS ports.

Maybe port 300?

As for what work to put in the server--I'm going to go and grab a couple 2nd Drive files and prepare them so they can be fed into the server.

As for the domain...so, you're saying that it will still be on CRUS.dynip.telepac.pt? Just wanted to make sure I read your post correctly.

Wait until we have all opinions....yes, the domain will stay as CRUS.dynip.telepac.pt.

Sorry if sometimes you guys don't understand me but my native language isn't English but I always try to be understood. Don't be afraid to correct me...

Okay, Carlos, here's the file for you to put in the server. It's five files from the lower portion of the 2nd Drive, which should keep the server busy for a while.

File Type: txt knpairs-nplb-2ndDrive.txt (134.6 KB, 110 views)

Oh, sorry--I didn't notice your message about waiting for all opinions until it was too late.

i think files from the 2nd drive from 260k are good for testing: small n so quite fast to complete.

Default Thx for setup and drive 2 range priorty

Thanks for setting this up guys!

After we get it running well, for future reservations, I'm thinking that it would probably be better for LLRNet to take the higher-range of drive 2, i.e. n=320K-333.2K, which is why I posted many more files for it. We need to "clean" n=320K-340K within 2 months of reserving it at PrimeSearch, although I can probably contact Mike Hartley and let him know it might be a little longer for that one. Of course n=333.2K-340K is getting close to done now. Any drive 2 range that I reserve now will be in the higher range.

What do you think Karsten?

For all n=20K ranges >340K, with the way the project is moving, I'm sure we'll probably easily knock out each range out in < 2 months at least up until we get substantial testing time increases.

since the project starte (about 2 weeks now) we finished 7k in Drive #1 and another 1.2k in Drive #2 so 8.2k done out of 20k! and all this with only 7 members (so far completed ranges).
if more contributors will join us we can make such range within 2 months (the ranges are reserved until end March).
if we can't complete the ranges i can update them at PrimeSearch a few days before expire.
so let's see how far we get there.

Works for me. I didn't know there was a way to 'update' them at PrimeSearch. Regardless, I'm sure we're good. Thanks.

Okay, then--I'll go over to the 2nd Drive thread and unreserve the files I'd reserved for LLRnet from the lower ranges, and reserve some from the higher range. Sound good?
