i made 2 quick graphs here: http://www.rieselprime.de/NPLB/Graphs.htm
there you can see all listed primes in the PrimeDatabase for 2 different ranges of k and n. the "great hole" in the 1800<k<1900 range is the eyecatcher! (2nd graph). |

Excellent graphs Karsten!
![]() Funny you should mention that about k=1800-1900. I just now submitted a k=1800-1900 prime. Also, LaurenU2 has a k=1800-1900 prime to submit from several hours ago. He got an automated Email for it. I also sent him an Email making sure he knows how to submit primes. I think he has 2 or 3 to submit now. It's amazing that we had to wait until n>370K for a new k=1800-1900 prime when there was only 1 n=350K-375K ever previously found. Gary |

i made another Graph of all NPLB-Drives and some other ranges to 'see' clearly where/what we're crunching!
see the link 2 posts above! PS: some (current) ranges will added the next days! Last fiddled with by kar_bon on 2009-01-27 at 09:54 |

I have deleted the poll/thread titled "NPLB will help Primesearch overtake RPS".
While these kinds of polls can be fun, I felt that it would only serve to increase the rift between the projects. Please PM me with any comments or complaints about this decision. Gary |

I am happy to report that Ian (MyDogBuster) has been added to the list of admins for the NPLB project. Ian has been a great help to NPLB and I need some time freed up to give a little more direction to the CRUS project so his help will be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to the world of tedious admin duties Ian! ![]() Gary |

I have some exciting news. After getting approval from Michael Hartley and Chris Caldwell, I have recently been given admin access to the PrimeSearch project ID at the top-5000 site. The ID here now has a link to our forum here and describes what we are doing with the NPLB effort as it relates to the, now defunct, PrimeSearch project.
This should provide much better exposure for the project! Gary

A note of interest:
Karsten has begun sieving k=2000-3000 for n=20K-1M for NPLB's next big effort. Bruce had previously offered to do a lot of the sieving on our next effort after finishing k=1003-2000 for n=500K-1M to P=30T so I have suggested that he coordinate with Karsten when he is ready to. I did not personally suggest this but was leaning that way. The other option was to start an even bigger sieve for k=300-2000 for n=1M-2M but I think that we can wait probably until early 2010 to start on that. That will be a monster effort that will likely need to be sieved to somewhere around P=100T-200T. The nice thing about k=2000-3000 is that we'll be able to test all 500 k's since (at least as of this posting) no one project or person is searching a large contiguous k-range within the area and there will be far less already known primes, i.e. less double-checking. i've marked the range 1003 <= k <= 1399 complete upto n=500k!
next (perhaps today): range 1400<k<1600 upto n=520k! i updated the k<300 page too! |
