Many many changes made to the stats site.
Most of them you should not notice.
Under the hood so much code has changed you could almost say its a new site that looks 'almost' exactly the same.

The code base is up-to-date for Perl 5.10, PHP 5.2.6 and MySQL 14.12.
This greatly extends the lifetime of the stats software.
(It also feels like it got some 'snap' back into it)

The HTML is up-to-date for W3C 4.01 "Transitional"
This improves the consistency of the site when viewed in W3C compliant web browsers.
It also solved the IE9 pie problem which was causing IE9 to go into 'Quirks Mode'
Not heard of 'Quirks Mode' ? Don't believe me ? GIYF

Thus the new pies are back and working for current versions of
Safari,
Chrome,
Chromium,
Firefox,
Epiphany,
Arora,
Midori,
Seamonkey
and IE9

There's still some work to do to get them working in IE8 and Opera.
IE6 and IE7 are not yet tested.

All NPLB charts now working for all browsers, with one single exception: the Drive Progress chart is too much for IE6 to handle causing IE6 to hang.

If you are still using IE6 for some reason, please upgrade your browser or use a different browser to view that chart.

Now everything works swimmingly in Opera.

Of course, if you really want to go for full cross-browser compatibility, you should make the charts display properly in links/elinks...

As a side note, just now I tried viewing the NPLB site in links and was pleasantly surprised to see that just about everything (except the charts of course) displays very well...none of the usual tables/formatting jumble that viewing modern websites in text-based browsers tends to elicit.

Yes the elinks render is pretty good at the moment.
The next round of updates will probably degrade that a bit because elinks isn't quite up-to HTML5.
(...hang on...yup...I just checked that out and not much of the formatting is affected, vertical alignments like the menu and such get a bit lost but it is still much the same)

I will be out of town for a couple of days with limited internet access, leaving this Thursday (June 23) and returning Saturday (June 25). This does overlap a bit with Gary's vacation (announced over in the CRUS forum), from which he will be returning on Friday; I'll make sure all the servers are well-stocked with work before leaving and hope that nothing crazy happens.

Find lots of primes while I'm gone!

(Yeah, we say this every time we go anywhere...it's in the contract.
