Stats pages are in 'maintenance mode' while a large amount of data is being processed
current ETC is about 6 hours from the time of this post. |

I'm slightly surprised that it's taking quite that long but I suppose it does make sense since the DB has to check each and every pair against the entire database to make sure it isn't a duplicate.

There is a bit more to it than just the duplicate checking
but the good news is it finished much sooner than I estimated. I have completed the summaries rebuild. The NPLB stats site is now out of maintenance mode. Scheduled processing has been resumed. The NPLB stats database now hosts 18,422,397 validated and de-duplicated first pass pairs. 1,195,799 of those are from Manual Processing. 223 of those were prime and are visible in the primes list. All stats have been refreshed. There will be a corresponding jump in the exported numbers to Free-DC Stats. The next manual processing results file will be loaded as soon as possible. Work will now resume on the Double Check stats (about 60% done) Have a great day :) |

Hi all,
Around noon tomorrow I will be departing for a family reunion out of town. This is the same one that I did the last couple years around this time of year, though this time around, they have high-speed internet at my destination. I'm not sure how conveniently accessible the internet will be--that still remains to be seen and depends on just how far their wi-fi goes. However, I nonetheless hope to be able to keep up reasonably well with the activity on the forum and avoid the usual load of catch-up when I get back which inevitably leads to post skimming and drives Gary nuts. ![]() Over the last few days as each of my dualcore's cores finished their current batches of work, I had them join my quad on my personal PRPnet server running Sierpinski base 6 from CRUS. This way, while I'm gone I don't have to worry about any of my cores running out of work (unless I get really lucky and find all 20 remaining primes in the conjecture, in which case I won't mind having run out of work). I will most likely not be able to easily access the server machine while I'm away. That means server maintenance will essentially be on Gary's plate for the week. He can load new work into the LLRnet servers pretty easily, and I did send him instructions for loading a PRPnet 3.x server a while back (though it would be a first-time experience for him). So as long as nothing crazy happens we should be fine. ![]() Hopefully my absense will prove beneficial for the project in true GIMPS fashion: they always seem to find huge Mersenne primes while their primary admin is away, so I suppose the NPLB equivalent of that would be...well, finding LOTS of our comparatively smaller primes! (Maybe a few megabits as well.)Max

Almost ready to head out now--this will be my last foray onto the forum before then. I just did one last check of all the servers, etc. and they seem to be in tip-top shape. Gary, I see that you've added one quad to port 9000; per my calculations the server should dry in 16 days, so that should plenty well outlast my vacation, but I just wanted to give you a heads-up on that figure in case you wanted to add anything more.

Just got back from my vacation now--I'm caught up with all the new posts in the NPLB and CRUS forums but I've still got quite a bit of reading to do to get back on top of the rest of the mersenneforum. I also have to check the PRPnet port 9000 log file to figure out the cause of a rather minor duplicate-pairs issue Dave uncovered while I was away; I should be able to get to that within the next day or two.

I will be out of town on a camping/canoe trip from Monday until very late Friday. I will not be on the internet during that time and will be back on Saturday afternoon.

I will be taking a short excursion out of town next week leaving in the morning on Wednesday, August 11 and returning early evening the next day, Thursday, August 12. I will have internet access in my hotel, but whether I will have time to use it to check the forum while I'm out will be another story. It's only two days, though--it won't be too hard to catch up on any important developments when I get back.
