It looks like port 4000 is now handing out 7th drive pairs and I think that someone already found a prime for it!
![]() Max, Please reduce the MaxJobTime on port 4000 to 1 day now. With people moving on and off of that server, the first k/n pair is no longer near the leading edge. Thanks, Gary |

Excellent work!
Only port 400 to go. It appears it will start handing out n>600K closer to mid-day in the U.S. today so several hours earlier than what I expected. Since it will still be possibly another full day before the straggling pairs are handed out, our official completion date of Dec. 23rd should hold true; both in the U.S. and Europe. ![]() Gary |

Goals for this project: - End 2009: All 300 < k < 1001 tested up to n = 600000. - In 2009: Begin of sieving the same k-range for 600000 < n < 1000000. - End 2010: k-range doublechecked up to n = 260000. - End 2012: k-range tested up to n = 1000000 2nd goal is done too this year. 3rd goal could be done next year! 4th goal about 3 years earlier??? ![]() PS: ---funny on--- to be with the ghosts of NCC1701 (-> Enterprise): when J.T.Kirk asked Scotty to fix a problem with the engines, Scotty first said: Scotty: "I think, i need 2 days, Captain!" Kirk: "I give you 4 hours!" Scotty: "OK, James!" ---funny off--- so the NPLB-goals are done in a Scotty-manner! Last fiddled with by kar_bon on 2008-12-22 at 11:10 |

...reminds me of when Scotty was talking to Geordi:Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge: Look, Mr. Scott, I'd love to explain everything to you. But the captain wants this spectrographic analysis done by 1300 hours. Scotty: [thinks about it some time] You mind a little advice? Starfleet captains are like children. They want everything right now and they want it their way. But the secret is to give them only what they need, not what they want. Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge: Yeah. Well, I told the captain I'd have this analysis done in an hour. Scotty: How long would it really take? Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge: [annoyed] An hour! Scotty: [looks unbelieving] Oh. You didn't tell him how long it would REALLY take, did you? Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge: Of course I did. Scotty: Oh, laddie. You've got a lot to learn if you want people to think of you as a miracle worker. I think it continued with something like: Scotty: If you think it'll take you one hour, tell the captain two hours, so when you get it done in one hour, he thinks you're a miracle worker. |

Kirk (to com): Scotty, progress report? Scotty: I'm almost done, sir. You'll be fully automated by the time we dock. Kirk: Your timing is excellent, Mr. Scott. You've fixed the barn door after the horse has come home. How much refit time until we can take her out again? Scotty: Eight weeks, sir. But you don't have eight weeks so I'll do it for ya in two. Kirk: Mr. Scott. Have you always multiplied your repair estimates by a factor of four? Scotty: Certainly, sir. How else can I keep my reputation as a miracle worker? Kirk: Your reputation is secure, Scotty. |

David, can you post a copy of knpairs.txt and joblist.txt here so that we can see exactly how many k/n pairs are left below 600K? Gary, I'm going to go ahead and post files in the various >600K team drive threads now that we have officially passed that point on all servers. |
