I'm beginning to wonder if some doublechecking isn't in order. With newer, faster machines more widely disseminated now, I imagine we could get through those respective ranges in reasonably short order if we had a total of 2-4 quads working on them.

Any thoughts on this? I think there's a reasonably decent chance of finding an additional prime or two on one or both of these drives. Much of the primeless gaps were done in rather large contiguous chunks by a few people, enough so that just one bad machine could have caused a lot of damage.
The large ranges within the primeless gaps were all done by you, Ian, and me. IMHO, the odds are very remote of a missed prime amongst the 3 of us. If it was done by more transient people on the project, then I'd say yes, let's doublecheck them. But that shouldn't be necessary since it's the 2 admins plus one of our main regular guys.

I'm sure you just looked at the Sierp side instead or remembered the count from the last time you worked on it. If that was a Sierp prime, it would have made 25 k's remaining on it.

Actually, it was those ranges done by you, Ian, and myself that I was thinking might have problems. While I'm pretty sure my machine were stable all throughout that time, you guys both have many more machines than I do and thus it's harder to keep a close watch on their stability. At any rate, though, I'd doublecheck my ranges as well in a contiguous range with yours just to be sure.

I agree that it seems unlikely for my, Ian's, or your machines to have missed a prime. But that huge primeless gap really does look suspect, what with the primes coming in comparatively short succession after 200K. The one that looks the most suspect to me is the Sierp. side, with absolutely no primes from 140K-195K. That's a huge range to go without any primes on a drive like this.

I'll admit, I could be on a wild goose chase here. But just the same, could you possibly send me the 100K-200K sieve files for both of these drives? I may decide to take a whack at them once my quad's freed up after our joint base 9 effort.

IMHO, it's randomness and yes, a wild goose chase. I've seen much worse gaps than that. Mark's gaps a month ago on Sierp bases 811 and 961 were much less likely. Doublechecking showed no problem with them.

I have a better idea. How about starting the transfer of servers to Jeepford now and coming up with a plan to finally get all NPLB manual results imported to the database there?

Doublechecking should be way below those on our priority list.

One more thing: If you need work for your machine(s), how about Sierp base 39; a huge effort that you reserved for n=10K-25K 4 months ago that hasn't had a status yet.

Yeah, I see what you mean...I hadn't considered Mark's gaps. Okay, then, I guess it's not worth the trouble after all.

About the transfer of servers: yeah, I know, as I said in my latest email to you and Dave, I'll see about doing that within the remainder of this week. (BTW, I wasn't thinking of starting the doublechecking right away, so that didn't quite figure into my immediate priority list. )

Actually, I've been working steadily on that for over a month now. It's at n=21.6K and proceeding nicely; it will probably be done within 2-3 weeks. (Since that's not too far in the future, I was just going to wait until then to report anything on it...I figured you already knew I was working on it from the little "hints" I dropped to that effect along the way.)

By the way, just to check: did you email your results for these (and your earlier 210K-212K range) to Gary? Since they're not posted here, I'm guessing you sent them by email (either is fine), but I just wanted to check to make sure we've got them.

I have no results for those. Antiroach, please Email or attach the results files for n=210K-216K. Thanks.
