I do not know if problem reports about Prime95 V24.14 still make sense but this problem could be present in the new version as well.
I run the 64 bits version of Prime95 over Windows X P64 pro on a quad core. Sometimes Prime95 just seems to grind to a halt during P-1 factoring. I tried different things but the most effective is to reboot the machine. Then everything goes fine untill the next P-1 job that may or may not experience the same problem. (P-1 is running on one core only with 3619 MB of memory, the maximum allowed. The other cores are doing TF or LLR. There is still some free memory, swapping is not involved.) The problem I have now is that after rebooting during phase 2 the P-1 job restarted but uses only half of allocated memory 1716 MB and is still incredibly slow. It starts OK but after some minutes runs about 6 times slower than usual even after I stopped the program on the other cores. |
