We cannot accept any more work on new bases using srbsieve (except base 3) until a serious issue is resolved. In the mean time for new bases, only work using CRUS's starting bases script can be accepted. Please see here for more details of the problem.
When it appears that the issue has been fixed, before accepting any new bases using srbsieve, I would like to see independent parallel tests run to n=2500 on several new bases. To be more specific, I'd like to see the following on any new base until the issue appears resolved: 1. All files for an srbsieve run to n=2500. 2. All files using the starting bases script to n=2500. All MOB's, primes, trivial k's, and k's remaining should match. We realize that this may frustrate many of our newer searchers. We understand if you wish to release new bases that were recently started. The reasoning is that this project must be very exacting since we are attempting to prove mathematical conjectures and all submissions must be spot on accurate. We cannot run new software without fully independently verified parallel tests. It was assumed that this was already done with srbsieve, which turned out to be a bad assumption. I personally did it myself on Riesel base 3 so I am comfortable with base 3 submissions. Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 2015-08-16 at 09:04 |

Thanks to all for following up on what appeared to be a serious problem with srbsieve. It turned out to be a user error. As it appears is already happening, everyone can feel free to continue on with srbsieve. I would still like to see some independent verification of new bases for a period of time, at least up to n=1000 or 2500.
In other news, I will be out of town for a couple of weeks beginning mid-day Monday. This time around, I should have more time to check in and do some updates while I am gone. Thanks to BOINC and srbsieve and many new searchers, the project is progressing very rapidly now, which makes it a challenge to keep up with. |

I'm out of town for a couple of weeks until Dec. 17th. I'll do sporadic updates while I'm gone.
