Personally for me, after 40 hours you just get so tired that nothing keeps you up anymore. Hoping to expand past that this year at college.

Usually you can call them and set up for "pickup".
Unfortunately, that's what I've pretty much ALWAYS had to do with FedEx - and around her, it's a 50 mile trip EACH WAY to their pickup facility. Main reason I hate dealing with FedEx - they ALWAYS try to deliver when I'm not here or asleep.... |

My wife drove to the FedEx place today and picked it up, and then she stopped by Wendy's and got me a Spicy Chicken combo... She must be up to something...
I'll post some assembly pictures in a few hours... |

Here is the memory, processor and heat sink installed on the motherboard... Note the crazy bracket on the underside of the motherboard...

It fired right up with no problems... I had it boot an old copy of Windows XP so right now it is in 32-bit mode... Here is a quick benchmark...
Code:
AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 140 CPU speed: 1396.10 MHz CPU features: RDTSC, CMOV, PREFETCH, MMX, SSE, SSE2 L1 cache size: 64 KB L2 cache size: 1024 KB L1 cache line size: 64 bytes L2 cache line size: 64 bytes L1 TLBS: 32 L2 TLBS: 512 Prime95 version 23.6, RdtscTiming=1 Best time for 384K FFT length: 32.474 ms. Best time for 448K FFT length: 38.912 ms. Best time for 512K FFT length: 43.856 ms. Best time for 640K FFT length: 55.044 ms. Best time for 768K FFT length: 66.848 ms. Best time for 896K FFT length: 81.123 ms. Best time for 1024K FFT length: 91.083 ms. Best time for 1280K FFT length: 122.083 ms. Best time for 1536K FFT length: 149.099 ms. Best time for 1792K FFT length: 179.224 ms. Best time for 2048K FFT length: 201.359 ms. I slapped in a network card that I know is supported under Linux... Hopefully getting the ones on the motherboard to work will be easy... The 13GB drive my Mom donated won't spin up... I'm not sure why. but I'll look into it... If I can't figure it out by Monday morning I'll order a cheap 40GB one then... For now I have put in one of my old 1GB drives... Overall the box is surprisingly quiet... I'll post more in a few hours... |
