Hey Ernst,

Thanks for the links - I have been thinking that the differences of ideology in Clinton and Obama's health care plans have not been dissected enough. Although the difference in costs cited in Krugman's piece is much smaller than I read elsewhere, the general concensus is that Clinton's plan costs more and covers everybody (because of mandates), while Obama's plan leaves out about 15 million people.

As an independent who isn't sold on the idea of universal health care, I actually like Obama's plan better. To me, it seems like Obama has a little bit of faith in the free market, while Clinton has no faith in free markets. The same could be said about their recent economic stimulus plans. Clinton's proposal to freeze interest rates for 5 years and freeze home foreclosures for 90 days just sounds like pandering to uneducated voters that don't understand the consequences of these actions.

I don't think it matters. The differences are not sharp enough to matter to
most voters. The fact that both support such plans is what matters. Even if one plan is "better", would not cause me to select one over the other.

What does matter to me is that I don't trust Billary to be truthful. I
think Obama is more direct, forthright, and honest, and he is certainly more
articulate in his speech.

I would find either candidate to be acceptable however.

Indeed, if the Dems nominated a cabbage for president, I would vote for it
ahead of any of the Republiguns.

I am not in favour of an 'Obama ' president, for several reasons,which I
would prefer played out.
It so happens I am of the lineage of Jane Addams on the one side
and a bunch of pennsylavania coal miners on the other,and was raised in
SOUTH Africa,way way back in the fifties,age 3 to 18.
I am in favor of 'space' as the new frontier ,personally appropriate to support.

Strange that George W. "Let's go to the Red Planet, by golly!" Bush's plans for Martian invasion never "took off," as it were. Perhaps the fiscal and political straits having to due with another, more earthbound, invasion had something to do with that...

I've always thought that referring to prostitution as "the world's oldest profession" was unfairly giving short shrift to politics.

Actually, I thought it was perhaps because people confused the 2 professions and lumped them both together under the rubric "whoring" - but IMO prostitutes, erm, I mean "sex trade professionals" [the kind of euphemism a politician would invent, BTW], are much more honest about their work, how much it's likely to cost you, etc. Ya just gotta be prepared to deal with an angry pimp if you decide you don't like the deal midway through, or come time to pay.

Yes, I believe the U.S. political equivalent to a pimp is "Majority Whip", no?
