I considered that spelling and consciously inserted

I second that emotion (was that Marvin Gaye or Smokey Robinson?)

On the newly defined criterion (see the "Mally post" thread) of

Hasn't she just gone through the same "speech therapy" as one
Margaret Thatcher did ~25 years ago?

No, not at all - Dame Maggie may have come off as insufferably smug, haughty and parochial, but shrill and "naggravatory" she was not. Maggie actually had a bit of Zsa Zsa Gabor-soundingness in her speech, sans the Hungarian accent. I'll bet she even called Ronald Reagan "Dahhhling Rohhnie" in private.

Can't help thinking that distance lends enchantment to the view.
I'm trying to remember a famous aphorism of said "femme fatale"
but I keep coming up with Marlene Dietrich or Nico (of Velvet
Underground fame).
PS And that one who is reputed to have said "I vont to be alone".

I've recovered enough from my Achilles tendon surgery (November) to be allowed home, and now I've finally cleared away two months of spam (no Internet access at the nursing facility!).

On the thread topic:

I think we're having primary elections way too early (too early for the good of the country, that is), but don't yet know what difference that will make in the long run. It's an experiment.

Does anyone else feel that there is something unsatisfactory
about late voters in California knowing the results in the rest of
the country before they vote?

This comes up every election cycle... it's just a fact of life. What would be the solution?

Hmm... all the different states voting on the same day by agreement perhaps? What am I missing here?
