Probably it will happen during this week because I already ordered the components for the new machine. 1410-1420 complete, no primes. Last fiddled with by em99010pepe on 2010-01-03 at 10:45 |

Due to my work with k=15, k=105 work will be on hold. I expect to be back to it within 13 days. Anyway, the current status of k=105 is:
1,300,000 - 1,325,000 Carlos - Paused (30.9 % done) 1,325,000 - 1,350,000 Carlos - Paused (34.2 % done) 1,350,000 - 1,375,000 Carlos - Paused (30.1 % done) 1,375,000 - 1,400,000 Carlos - Paused (30.9 % done) 1,400,000 - 1,420,000 Carlos - Complete (Prime at n=1407665) 1,420,000 - 1,500,000 Carlos - Paused About the new machine, parts I want are out of stock but the good news is that I ordered a new Q9550 to replace the Q6600. This will give me a 10-15 % speed boost with lower temps. I expect a decrease by 10 ºC when comparing with the Q6600 at 2.9 GHz. That's good for me because I was already on the limit with the Q6600 overclocked. Last year I changed the power supply to a more efficient one but I lost in blow air taken out of the computer case, I notice and increase of CPU temps by 3-5 ºC. When putting my hand on the back of the power supply I can notice a lower air debit compared with the old power supply. The only advantage of the new on is the lower noise. Anyway, with all the upgrades and new processor I expect and increase of computer power to help RPS by a factor of 2.5. Hehe. Thank you. While flashing the Q6600 bios got an error and now the machine won't reboot. I suppose there's nothing I can do to turn the CPU back on.
As I said before I was going to upgrade the machine, now I just have to order a new socket 775 motherboard. I didn't expect this failure, my work on this k and on the k=15 is on hold until I get everything back on road. And yes, I have a backup of all the work on a secondary hard drive, nothing was lost. Very sorry for this delay. I made a mistake by rebooting the machine after the flash failure, I didn't know I could recover from a wrong bios flash... Carlos |

I ordered an Asus Maximus II Formula motherboard with a Q9550S instead of the Q9550. The S version has a TDP of 64 W instead of the 95 W. Although it is more expensive I will save on energy. Only by next week I expect to be at full power.

Just to let you all know that within 7 days I will be again running k=105 up to 1.5M. Let's see if I can close this drive by the end of March.
