here are my two thougths on the subject
1) it will cause harm to the cpu but not a sigifiant amount to discorage use for example it will run for 5 years and 30 days with out useing prime and mabey 5 years on the dot with useing prime so it really wont matter beucase yourll probably chuck that comptuer after 2-3 years 2) it might acutally help keeping your cpu at a certian tempature 24/7 it would eleminate thermal expantion / contraction caused by starting your comptuer and turning it off and having it heat up and cool down several times over the corse of a day think light bulb witch lasts longer the one thats allways one or the one that gets switched on and off all the time. |

It is important to keep the CPU temp in the range which is specified for the CPU, then everything will be ok.
CPU makers specify their CPUs so that it can achieve a 10 year life time or even more. AMD even tests some samples at temperatures around and above 300°C to see much earlier how the CPU would behave in 10 years if it would be run at spec. The same will be true for Intel. |

Nah, Silicon can handle some very high temps before it melts - the metal layers *might* melt FIRST, depending on what alloy they use.
