Notifying a user with false results

Hi!

I´ve got a little question.
In case a user reports several false results to the server, but his computer still passes the Torture-Test, so the user won´t know, that there´s something wrong with his computer. Will this user be notified somehow about his problem, e.g. by email, so that he can check for possible hardware errors?

You can check it yourself. George keeps a file with bad results, ftp://mersenne.org/gimps/bad.zip, that you can search through.

But...
Windows does not recognize this file type. (I mean after unzip) :? ;)

The file is a standard ascii text file but without any suffix. Use Notepad or some any other text editor to open the file.

BTW, does the file include the false M40 exponent?????

Yes. In fact, if two L-L residues for the same exponent disagree, we don't know which residue is incorrect until we have at least one more L-L residue: two matching residues besides the incorrect one. So all of the exponents in the "bad" file have already had at least three L-L tests done.

Not with its real (incorrect) residue -- it would be too easy to pick out the zeros. :)
