How are the "infractions" managed ? In other words, one can add infractions to a user because of some of his posts, but what are the consequences ? Are administrators the only ones that can give them ?
One can also "report" a post, I suppose an administrator receives the "report" and is supposed to act or not to act uppon reciving such a report ? Perhaps I was a harsh against Mally : I gave him two "infractions" because of his insulting language against posters who dared disagree with him. But I did this whithout knowing the exact consequences... And if I was not alone in giving "infractions" the consequences might be bigger than I intended... We have been trying to find a way to disable the whole infraction system. It is too complicated.
A member is either in good standing or they are banned. Life is simple. It takes a lot to get banned, too. BTW, we once tried to edit Mally's account, but we were unable to do so. We figure his account is protected by some sort of mystical pyramid power. |

Well, we've either turned off the infraction system, or really fudged the forum.
We hope it is the former. If anyone out there can still see the infraction icons please let us know. |

"Report Post" is a different system. That just fires off an email to the mods.
The "Infraction System" was something else that we think only moderators could see. We are not sure exactly how it was supposed to work. |

Ah, ok. I think that you're correct in thinking that the mods are the only ones that can see them, because I can't see them now and haven't seen it before.

Looking through the infraction log was amusing. We won't post any of it here, for privacy concerns, but some of the infractions given were pretty funny. Well, we'll post one:
Infraction submitted by: xilman; Value: 10 points; Reason: Ernst made fun of me and made me cry. We think, the way we had it set up, a person would have to get at least 42 infractions before anything happened, and we are not sure what would have happened. Most likely they would have been promoted to super moderator status. That would explain a lot of the questions we have about how Alex, Anurag, Ernst, George and Paul got that coveted promotion. This is all, of course, controlled by a huge control panel with thousands of options, but we are lazy and deleting an account takes only six clicks. A ban takes eight clicks. |

Why is it that Xyzzy's name color is blue like normal user's when he's actually got more power than the green names or the red names? Trying to hide your power or something?
