I know this isn't a bug per se, however, under the right set of circumstances, restoring prime95 files from CD on Win98 can restore them read-only. In one case, I had a brain failure and completely forgot this was possible:
Since I have PC's in use by my kids (they are on their own and out of town), monitoring them is different then monitoring my PC at home. The read-only restore forced prime95 to created a third backup file (which is good) since the first two were read-only. But the spool file was read-only, problems ensued, blah, blah, blah. I tried to fix the problem over the phone but, as one can imagine, that took several attempts. We finally found it when a simple change to prime.ini would not work: Options ==> Preferences ==> Iterations Between Screen Outputs. Of all things The net result was partially LL'ing the same candidate multiple times. :( The good news is that M19151771 doesn't really need a DC. :D Request: Modify Prime95's startup to check for read-only files that it could update Or has this already been addressed and I missed it seraching this forum . . .

If this hasn't been addressed, might be good for the next version.
