Thumbs down style="float:left"

What's the deal with style="float:left"? See the attached pic. I'm on IE6, if it helps.

My bet is on a missing punctuation character or two somewhere in forum innards.

It shall be fixed. One of the gerbils obviously forgot to test our latest changes with IE. You can't blame him, really, since the mere thought of using IE gives him eleptiform seizures.

It has been fixed. The gerbil responsible has been punished severely. No sunflower seeds for you!

(If you saw how much production code we have that is required because IE6/7 is "special", it would make you vomit.)

Hopefully the new vertically compressed home page is agreeable with everyone. It is also kinder to people stuck with low resolution monitors. And it uses less bandwidth, reduces global warming and it helps eradicate world hunger.

... unless you're running GIMPS in background and are weak-willed. See second half of http://mersenneforum.org/showpost.ph...85&postcount=6. These ecological considerations are tricky -- like in the mid-1970s energy crunch when folks said safety-blade-razor shaving used less electricity than electric razor shaving, forgetting to factor in the energy required to manufacture all those disposable razor blades.

Freedom of choice, however misguided, is something we greatly value.
