The only caveat I would add is that you allow any P-1 stage(s) in progress to complete, as there have been changes recently to how the intermediate save files are constructed. At worst this would just restart a P-1 stage in progress.

The only real rule is be certain the client is stopped and fully unloaded before replacing the Prime95.exe file.
