Hi,
I've a problem with the 23.2 version on my laptop P4 2.53GHz.
If I don't use the laptop it froze within 2-3 hours.
I've not this problem with the 22.12 version

Is someone have the same problem ?

That's an odd problem. I have a P4 2.4 GHz and I can leave it on without it freezing. What is the rest of your system configuration?

Speed improvements generally mean more heat and greater stress on the RAM. 23.2 may have put you just past the stability threshold. Try running the torture test for 12-24 hours.

Is this a generic recommendation for everyone who's recently upgraded to 23.2? Especially for overclockers who might have been running just below a stability threshold, it might be a real problem if they don't revalidate their system(s) for the new version. I know you recommended earlier in this thread

but it's not obvious that this is a recommendation to redo the stress test.

I personally did not run the torture test again on my overclocked machine, but I am keeping a close eye on the results.txt file for reported errors. If you are seeing troubles with 23.2 then running the torture test is advisable.

One reason you might want to delay running the torture test on 23.2 is that 23.3 is not too far off.

thanks Prime95 for your answer
I've found my problem. It was a question of temperature.
The room where my laptop is was to warm.
I solved this problem and now all is ok.

Default 23.2 or 23.3 vs 22.12 on Athlon

Running Prime95 22.12.1 on Athlon XP 1700 -- any advantage to upgrading for us non-P4 guys, or not?[/list]

finally have a P4 2.4 on the horizon; hopefully here before the week is out. If it kicks enuff butt, I may have to lose some of these other heaters, err, P3s.

I've only got 256 PC2100 on it; can someone speak to the advantages of adding another 256, solely for the purposes of Prime95?

Also, I'm curious -- I have two Athlon 1800s; one running XP Pro, the other RedHat 7.3; the XP Pro/Prime95 box is quite a bit faster than the RH/mprime box for LL and Doublechecking. Does Prime95 have some code that mprime doesn't?

More memory will only help in stage 2 of p-1 testing, when the larger amount of memory you allocate, the greater the chance of finding a factor, and also the slower in takes to complete stage 2.

What is the max that anyone has tried by the way, e.g. anyone tried 1.5gb or more for testing 33m exponent in p-1?
