I also have a Core2 Duo CPU and Prime95 runs only on one core, the other is idle. How can I use both cores for testing the same exponent?
The chart from mersenne.org indicate that Core2 Duo performance is above P4 3.8GHz. How is that possible, if only one core is running? |

To make a (bad) analogy, it is not how many RPM an engine turns, it is the power produced that matters. |

And how can I run 2 instances of Prime95, on Windows? When I execute the program, the already opened one pops up.
So, running Prime95 on one core only, on Core2 Duo @ 1.8Ghz is more efficient than running on P4 @ 3.8 GHz? Did I get this right? I've also noticed a Windows version for 64 bits (requiring a WindowsXP 64 edition, I guess) but no Linux 64 bits versions. Will mprime benefit of the 64 bits under a SuSE x86_64 edition, or we should wait a little? Last fiddled with by Ender on 2007-02-07 at 22:50 |
