If you haven't vomited through your nose, you haven't really lived... I'm only half joking...

Astronauts have faced drowning during EVAs on the ISS, but their heart rate didn't raise at all.

Once, when I was probably twelve or thirteen, I was drinking Coca Cola when something made me laugh. This caused me to shoot Coke out my nose, which really burned. I wiped my face and blew my nose. I took another swallow of Coke. While doing so, I thought about what I had just done. This caused me to laugh and eject Coke from my nose a second time.

I found it really funny then, and still do. [gap-toothed, pound the floor smiley]

40-60 cm ( 15.75 to 23.6 inches) of snow possibly coming my way starting late tomorrow I guess I need to get more power outage resistant groceries ( I usually survive on bread and cheese). shovel my balcony from the last storm and hope my roof or balcony doesn't collapse as it could weigh 2 metric tons.

My wife's PC died today. Our Italian Friday 17th is like US' Friday 13th.

The imdb message board got deleted disabled , despite the big backslash against it on all fronts (FB reddit imdb ...even a petition). On their Fb site the 80% of the comments are spamming about this.
I discovered and happily participated in a project (=run a program on my computer) to save it. Managed by http://archiveteam.org , which is a distributed crawling archiving project. I think i found a second thing to run on my spare computer cycles bandwidht and doesn't fight for resources with P95, nor eating my space (too much). And now i see the importance of archiving, my view changed about the internet and the contect sizes, historical values and the suffering of losing any unique information.

My dad, 80, passed away today. Fortunately all of us were prepared and he passed peacefully.

A peaceful exit is a good thing. You seem pretty calm about it. I hope he did not have a hard time in the lead-up to the end.

My parents made the decision on Friday (while my dad was still aware of everything) to stop all measures to extend his life. He was in extreme heart failure. All of us knew he was close to the end and fighting would only prolong our pain. Nobody wanted to see him suffer.

During Lent the last few years I have given up all alcohol. Being a beer snob, I don't drink cheap beer and am always looking for something new, especially if it is in a style I enjoy, especially bourbon barrel aged stouts, Belgian triples, and Belgian quads. Although my dad lived on cheap beer when he was younger, I introduced him to the "good stuff" years ago. I have always shared my love of beer with friends and family. A highlight of his visits to my home was the beer we enjoyed. Last night I cracked open a rare 2015 Bourbon Country Barleywine (the only one I had) and toasted to his memory.

My 16 year old son was holding his hand when he died. I was surprised at how both of my boys handled it. His funeral will be a celebration of his life much more than a mourning of his loss. We told stories in his room after his passing enjoying many laughs (I'm sure the hospital staff thought we were weird). When my oldest sister arrived she asked what everyone was doing. I deadpanned "we're chilling', even dad". We all had a good laugh (even my mom). That is my family. Don't get me wrong. I will be mourning for a while. I cried when I left the hospital and when I cracked open that beer. To me his body is a shell. What truly remains of him are our memories of him.
