Just stick to GIMPS and don't even think of banning me again.

And try raising things ~60M to at least 72.

We're starting with everything lower first. We'll get up there eventually.

I haven't checked this thread in a while, but damn, that sucks. Sorry for your loss, bro. :-(

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts, and I am a bit sorry to put something so intense out there. This Sunday we are spreading her ashes where she wanted, on the ocean near Palos Verdes and then are having a meal in the Redondo Beach Village. I'm practicing my speech about her for the meal but so far can't read it in an unbroken voice.

I met Linda in 1997. Our first date was a coffee shop. The burgundy shirt I wore there that day became my magic shirt; it never wrinkled, and for years I wore it on special occasions. We liked to make traditions about the smallest things.

We spent one Thanksgiving in a cabin at Big Bear and bought some things at the K-mart there, one of the few places open during the holiday; from then on, every Thanksgiving we made a trip to K-mart, not Big Bear. We never had much money but we had a lot of fun working within our means.

One Valentines day, Linda suggested a dinner at Chili's; I thought it was a geat plan, not too fancy and not likely too busy. There was over an hour wait and we ended up having a sandwich next door at Subway. From that experience we created our x-holiday tradition -- which meant that we often celebrated the next day instead; we avoided crowds and enjoyed things like half-price Easter candy.

Every Christmas we would get her a Hallmark ornament dated with the current year, She liked a line of angels they have. I think I might have started that tradition by getting her a few blown-glass angel ornaments on our trip to Big Bear. She liked trains, we were planning a train trip to the Grand Canyon.

One Christmas, I took her to see the Polar Express in 3D at Universal Studio's Imax theater. From then on, every Christmas we tried to see a 3D movie. This last Christmas, our movie was Mission Impossible in 3D. She really liked that.

Shortly before this last Christmas she had cataract surgery. The last few years her eyes had gotten so bad that she couldn't read anymore and I had to do her insulin shots. She feared the surgery, and mainly went ahead to stop my nagging. She was a poor candidate because of her diabetes and because of three previous eye capillary laser cauterizations. The cataract surgery outcome was very good. One eye at 20/40 and the next eye, even better at 20/30.

We'd bought a hi-def TV about a year ago and after the eye surgery she could finally really see everything. She watched tennis avidly and loved telling me the miniscule things she could now see again, like the ball spinning, or the color of people's eyes.

Italy and Ireland were special to her; she'd studied Italian in school and had made a trip to Ireland, where at Blarney castle, she got a claddah ring that she always wore. She loved Irish music.

When younger we used to read books in coffee shops and also listen to local folk music performances. We went to the Ojai music festival a few times. Maybe that stopped because the last time we went, I fell asleep during an orchestra performance, and she had to wake me to stop my snoring.

She loved Cirque du Soleil and we went to that when it was in Santa Monica. She liked reading detective novels especially by authors that put cats into the stories. Recently she was looking forward to catching up on some reading and we got her a Kindle e-reader to help.

Cats were a big part of our lives. When she felt down I would have her brush our cats. That always lifted her spirits. She was not the type to stubbornly stay in a bad mood. A good meal would cheer her up. She loved eating. Eggplant, Eggs Florentine, Salmon. When eating out, we shared all our food.

Early on, I got her a small diamond ring. Later, we put that diamond in a new ring and with two rubys beside it -- her birthstone, and two aquamarines, my birthstone, beside them. We we very close, all the time. She always held my arm when walking, mostly for balance, but like the birthstones on that ring, we always wanted to be together.

My wife and I have been together for over 18 years... I can't imagine living without her. My deepest condolences to you.

Reading your speech has left me wishing I could have known the two of you.

Amen, brother. That is true love. Sweet and good and simple.

She is in a better place, free of suffering and sorrow. And she will be there waiting when your time here has come to pass. God bless you both.

I'm sorry if this offends only-human or anyone else, but I want my ashes hurled at Bill Gates. Not for sentimental reasons, I just hate the guy.

Suffice it to say, I'm a big fan of open source, and Steve Jobs is dead.

Death is unfortunate, but I'm glad Mr. Jobs isn't screwing things up anymore. Would've been nice if he could've quit without actually dying.

Love the sinner, hate the sin. One of the basic truisms of Christianity. lol, now I've exposed myself as a hypocrite.

Unhappy In Loving Memory of Nix the Snake

My sister's baby corn snake Nix (or "Nixie" as he was usually known) (see http://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?p=294051) could not keep down his supper. Shortly thereafter (sometime Friday afternoon/evening), he made the journey over the Rainbow Bridge.

Apparently, regurgitation is generally a death knell for these (all?) snakes. I wonder if the snake wasn't sick from the time my sister got him, as he only shed once, went from a hearty eater to a total hunger strike, and was generally lethargic.

She (my sister) is quite distraught for now, but has plans to acquire Nixie 2.0 in the days ahead. Though sad, Nixie's death is not in vain as my sister and her beau acquired valuable husbandry skills that will undoubtedly lead them on the path to raising many happy, healthy snakes in the years to come.
