I don't know. Have not seen much on the news, specific to work. But between vague second hand accounts and what I have seen on the telly, we have losses in the 100,000's+ (euros, CAD, USD, pound sterling, or other similar currency) range at minimum. 3 items that are each around 100,000 are gone. It appears some infrastructure is gone, as well.

Because of a computer that is reporting in TF results, I can confirm that at least part of the office still exists, has power, and an internet connection. The last 2 are not a trifle as there are significant vulnerabilities in those regards.

No it was not. PM me for details if you wish.
I have heard reports that the losses total well in excess of 1M USD at work. Production equipment and weeks of finished product are gone. An employee that was in very early called the Fire Service, saving much of the site. We lost power around 1500 local time. All buildings are intact. Couldn’t drive to work due to the snow from yesterday. Both my cars are parked on a secondary road still with snow back of the flat. I don’t have a clue on how to drive on these conditions up to the main road.
On the county I live the majority of the schools are closed although main roads are clean but be safe than sorry I suppose. I did request my line manager to deduct the day on my salary but he was comprehensive, at least good sense on him. Don’t want to risk any issue since this week we’ll be going to motherland for Christmas. Bins will not be collected today, bus lines are limited to main roads. First big snowing since I’ve come to work in UK. |

Here in the Netherlands, the meteorological office has just declared a code red (maximum alert) for snow and slippery conditions.
The snow is blowing horizontally past our window! |

Yeah, it's very unusual. And because of this most UK drivers don't know how to drive in such conditions, nor have the appropriate kit.
I grew up in a land where we had to plug our cars in to prevent the radiators from freezing solid and the battery going dead, snow tires (sometimes with spikes) placed on our cars in October, always having snow chains ready, and sometimes having to dig our cars out of 50 cm or so of snow which had fallen overnight. And an interesting fact: the friction coefficient of rubber on wet ice is almost zero. If you don't have the training, experience and kit, and you don't have to, don't drive in such conditions. |
