Default How to fix a frozen LCD pixel

I bought a ViewSonic VA1912wb in September of 2006. It had no dead pixels.

I just took a three week trip, turn this beautiful display back on, and i discover a pixel frozen RED!

I almost panicked, then i performed LCD stop, drop, and roll:

Step 1: go to http://www.jscreenfix.com/ and run their web-application:
http://www.jscreenfix.com/applet.php?width=75&height=75

Step 2: Put the fuzzy stuff over the frozen pixel; put it right in the center.

-if step 2 doesn't fix it within an hour or so, proceed to step 3

Step 3: turn the LCD off; leave jscreenfix running on the pixel.

Step 4: apply light pressure with one's thumb to the affected area. Press and hold until step 5 is complete.

Step 5: turn the LCD back on. The applet should still be running on the affected area. Now remove one's thumb from the screen and remove the applet from the area.

TA DA! It should be fixed. I've now done it 4 times on pixels that froze months after the panels were purchased.
