The Mac Pro that I have access to runs the PPC client at roughly the same speed as the 2.2GHz Athlon64 on my desk at work.
This is quite impressive since it's running in emulation, but is there any possibility of seeing how well the machine performs on native code? I can compile things on the Mac Pro if someone's prepared to send me source code. Tom (tom@womack.net) |

Tom,
Because of license restrictions, we cannot send you the source code. However, I should be able to compile up a fat binary on my PPC that can run native on the Intel-based Macs. The biggest difficulty will be in sorting out the parts that are conditionally compiled. There are far too many places where the original author assumed that MacOS == PPC, etc. I'll see what I can do. Richard Last fiddled with by Wacky on 2006-12-27 at 19:43 |
