We have the first prime found (http://www.primegrid.com/orig/workun...?wuid=2412442), sadly, not a twin prime :) Still, congrats to the finders!

All work for the initial 5M range has been sent out, and I need to add new work into the system. Until it's done, primegen will be sent. I will probably add new range tomorrow, as I've got some stuff to do now (studies).

I know you're studying, so therefor I decided to ask the question here: "How big a range are you considering 10 G - 12 G, and should I help you split the files into pieces of 1 million each?"

I can do the splitting, my scripts are already doing that. Just tell me how many millions per file you want.

I reserved 880M to 900M.

Gribozavr, I need 1M range files. If you could provide them to me, it would be great. Send them to me via email, rytis.s@gmail.com. Thanks.

We have another prime and some more statistics: the script now counts how many LLR primes the user has found, and it is now possible to see what number actually is a prime.

Congrats to me and NJMHoffmann :)

899M - 900M Total tasks 366
925M - 926M Total tasks 604

366 vs 604? How can it be?

Let me tell you how is can be. The range 899-900 M with 366 tasks versus the range 925-926 M with 604 tasks, actually provides your question with a simple answer. Sieving. Rytis didn't sieve the 925-930 M range for more than 3 or 4 hours, that created ~3000 tasks. The recently reserved task, has been sieved for a much higher p, and therefor more candidates has been eliminated. So the answer to your question my friend is plain and simple: Sieving!

Hope that answered your question :)

What program do you use to do the sieving? newpgen? How much did you sieve? Then maybe we should share the sieving phase too?

And what hardware does it run on?
