Question yesterday-Friday 13th.

Well how did your Friday 13th go with you?

I had just returned from a long suburban trip having sent 3 strenous days there.

I found my PC monitor was not coming on.

Neither was my TV set.

One of my 3 phones was cut off.

My table fan switch got defective and wouldnt come on.

Modern living ?

I ask myself had Fri. 13 th have something to do with this misfortune?#

Here are some details of the same.

[0]Juha-Matti Laurio writes to point out a Washington Times story about
how special this particular [1]Friday the 13th is. The [2]digits in the
numerical notation for the date add up to 13 — whether you write it
in
the US or the European form. From the article: "The phenomenon hasn't
happened in 476 years, said Heinrich Hemme, a physicist at Germany's
University of Aachen who crunched the numbers to find that the
double-whammy last occurred Jan. 13, 1520."

Whoever originally wrote this was probably very bad at math. As far as the US/European formats go: 1+0+1+3+2+0+0+6=1+3+1+0+2+0+0+6 (the dates in US/EU formats) all the time, there's nothing special about that. And since when does 1520+476=2006? He said it was 476 years ago in 1520...unless I missed something and it's still 1996.

Oh and by the way, nothing bad happened on my Friday the 13th. I think that because it's supposed to be unlucky, people claim that any bad thing that happens on this day is because it's Friday the 13th.

Here are some new words for the day (or should I say for yesterday):

triskaidekaphobia
friggatriskaidekaphobia
paraskevidekatriaphobia

I knew of the first, but not the others.

While I'm at it, I'll point you to http://phobialist.com/ so that you can determine which phobia's you have...

Quote from article: [This is not a good day for paraskevidekatriaphobics -- those who fear Friday the 13th. It's double-13 Friday. All the numbers in the numerical notation -- 10/13/2006 -- add up to 13 as well, giving great pause to the superstitious.

The absent minded professor mixed up his arithmetic and we must over look it. By the way Jan 13, 1520 also adds up to 13, thats the double whammy! but this occurred 486 yrs ago.
I suspect he was claustrophobic with an attack of vertigo!
And heres some strange arithmetic I made up on the spot
486-5 (add digits =5) =13 x 37 both primes! = 4+8+1 =13!

Some interesting ones:
Hellenologophobia- Fear of Greek terms or complex scientific terminology.
Caligynephobia- Fear of beautiful women.
Cyberphobia- Fear of computers or working on a computer.
Ecophobia- Fear of home.
Heliophobia- Fear of the sun.

Someone's got all those?

Haven't your dentists heard of root-canal treatment where the tooth is preserved and the roots deadened?

If you allow your dentist to carry on like this eventually you will end up like me with a full set of dentures.

Now here's a question for all natural Darwinan evolutionists. Why do wisdom teeth crop up at such a late stage? I would answer to remind them that they are now spiritually evolving and physical evolution is lagging behind it.
Sorry Moo, that is relevant to a thread in the soap box.

Wisdom tooth extraction is because there is not enough room in one's mouth for all 32 teeth. It is not about the tooth having gone bad. Because of conflicting genetics, I have large teeth and a small mouth, thus to have a normal sort of bite, I have only 24 teeth now.

Why have late eruption of an extra molar? Well, the molars are important for nutrition. I would think that this would give a new surface that will last later in life and have a lesser chance of being knocked out.

correct the 2 upper wiz teeth were pulled... as well as the second molar on one side for being turned in a direction that is not suitable for eruption(i think it was pushed into the first molar)

hence i was worried because its october, and friday the 13th makes it just a little leary.
