Wow, that's a lot of templates. And whole bunches look just like subSilver.

Have you got time to make custom templates? The two I'd like to see are:

SpinalTap - "None more black".

and

LCD Default Screen Settings(from Windows 3.1) - Readability might be Xyzzy's goal, but nothing says "World Class Bulletin Board" like instantaneous retinal damage.

:)

I experienced some problems with the templates tonight so they are disabled for now... I need to learn a little more about them before I implement them fully... My number one goal is reliability and that just isn't possible when I am operating beyond my understanding... I have several other more critical BBS issues that have a higher priority right now... Thanks for understanding... :)

Xyzzy,

could you revert to the default template, as I find the current one a bit of a strain to read. I am slightly color-blind and this combo wasn't perfect for me.

Sorry for the delay in responding...

We have subSilver back on board as a template... Just switch to it in your profile if that is the one you like...

I think I figured out what I did wrong before, but for now I hope to leave just these two templates enabled until I can spend more time looking at how they interact with each other...

Thank you for your patience... :)

Something happened to the colors for me. It's all brown and green, not the old gray, which I liked. What should I do to fix this? I've tried changing it in my profile, but nothing happened.

Looks like ol' Rip Van Xyzzy ("... I fell asleep at the desk last night working on these templates...") was a bit more asleep than he thought when he tried to restore the subSilver template.

And check those timestamps -- right now I am seeing all the postings before yours, asdf, dated in September of last year.

I had to settle on one scheme, and in double-blind laboratory testing with genetically altered mice and rats the new green and brown scheme was preferred 10 to 1...

It is too much work to maintain my code modifications for two sets of templates...

I've found that this newer template is much easier to read on LCDs... Perhaps because the difference between the brightest and darkest regions are not as pronounced...

Anyways, I was hoping that nobody would even notice the switchover... :)

Even though (IMO) the new scheme is more aesthetically pleasing, the choice to go with it was based solely on improved readability... It won't be perfect for everbody, but nothing ever is...

If anyone has any additional concerns or suggestions please contact me... :)

PS - Remember that you can override any page's CSS with your own...

To be honest I preferred the old subSilver theme. It looked way better on my big lump of glass. I've got 12 screens, including a designer workstation with all sort of corrections, but not one of the make the new theme look any better. I do understand it is a lot of work maintaining more than one theme, just my bad luck :(.

Better go out and get on of those fancy super-expensive LCD screens. They cost more than a frigging PC does

heretic (or whatever ;) )

Perhaps a CSS guru could make one that converts subTrail to (almost) subSilver and then post a how-to plus the CSS here.
