Default GIMPS now in 10 million digit territory

Check the status:

http://www.mersenne.org/primenet/status.shtml

We have almost exhausted every exponent below 10 million digits. 3 or 4 days from now, all new exponents will be 10+ million digits.

Has anyone actually received a > 10-million digit exponent when requesting regular first-time primality tests?

Hmmm... according to http://www.mersenne.org/status.htm there are still approx. 19000 exponents below 30402457 for first-time testing.

It would be nice to have a countdown to testing all expos below 33219281 once.

http://www.mersenne.org/status.htm tells us how many exponents have completed each stage. E_tron is talking about exponents available to be assigned: http://www.mersenne.org/primenet/status.shtml.

According to the latest version, the Status Summary Report 29 Jul 2006 00:00 (UTC), there were 5717 exponents available for first-time testing. I think there's still over a week's supply.

[Ooh, my first avatar! I just noticed! Do they appear at random?]

Is the deal that if you have uploaded your own avatar then it will not change?

Mine hasn't changed yet.

That's probably asking for trouble ...

It probably wont, since you've had it for so long.

For example, the "E" has been with me since 2001.

According to http://www.mersenne.org/primenet/status.shtml there is no more exponent below the 10M digit range available for first-time testing.
