I have the oppertunity to purcharse at about $2200 an one year old HP XW6200 workstation with following basic spec.
Processores: Intel® DUAL Xeon™ 3.60GHz(2 Processors Installed) Memory: 4 GB DDR2-400 ECC Hard Discs: 2 x 73 GB (15000 rpm) Ultra320 SCSI Vidio: NVIDIA Quadro FX 3400 Should I or shouldn't I purchase? Last fiddled with by AntonVrba on 2006-06-03 at 12:32 |

The 4 GB ECC DDR2-400 $1000 The Quadro FX 3400 $750 The two 73 GB SCSI drives $460 The two XEON 3.6 Ghz CPUs $1420 ========================== Total $3630 without the MB and Case HP wants $2050 for a XW6200 Workstation with 1 GB 1 Quadro NVS 285 1 74 GB 1 XEON 3.2 Ghz |

Are they 64 bit capable Xeons?
Anyway my advise is look for a used dual opteron system or dual socket dualcore opteron system. You could probably build one within that budget because prices have fallen substantially. |
