Are you aware that standard HTML 4 supports menus? No JS needed.

Why do so many websites feel the need to change the standard UI elements and annoy the users with different behaviours?

Did you know that Telnet and FTP are much faster than any bloated HTML attempt? Graphics are a waste of bandwidth. What's wrong with the elegant simplicity of the command line?

Well, I looked. And that particular aspect of it can't be changed. Once you hover away from the dropdown, it disappears.

Technically I can adjust it so it fades away slower, but you can't go back and click on something since it's not really there.

Meanwhile though, I did tweak some timings on it so it seems a little snappier. I'd modified the default delays and "animation" effects already, but when doing some testing I think lowering some of those would be good.

I'll poke at it some more in the next few days and see if anything else comes to light, otherwise I'll just go with the minor changes for now.

I recall using Lynx as my first web browser. I guess it did the job okay.

I thought I was rocking it when I got a phone that had that. I could surf the web... from my phone! Honestly, I think I used it mostly to look up movie listings and times. That was about all it was good for.

A fun party trick is to use telnet to get web pages. It is really simple but most people don't even know what telnet is.

Another (unrelated) trick: In a previous life, we used to dial a phone using the hook switch. The phone in question had a lock on the dial.

That will still work today on many exchanges. But you have to remember the dials in some countries are reversed from other countries so sometimes you have to count backwards to get the right number of pulses.
