I created a new logo because the old is wrong: the sign was of the cancer and not gemini.

Now it seems to me better.

«Two is twice better than one» would also be a good slogan :D

In response to pacionet's request, I've deleted all recent posts about sieving and moved them into a separate thread. If you want to discuss sieving further, please discuss it in the "sieving discussion thread".

I propose that, if anybody find the largest twin prime known, the credits will go as moooomoo proposed, but that person can claim its record, if he wants, for example, in the "Guinness World Record" in the form:

"Mr. <NAME> found the largest twin primes known on <DATE>, partecipating to Twin Primes Search, a distributed computing effort which involves <NUMBER> volunteers in the world"

or something like that.

One time I read something like that on the Guinness Book about Michael Cameron, a Mersenne prime discoverer.

Do you agree ?

I always dreamed to appear in that book ... :)

The record (1999 Guiness book) states:

Largest prime number found using a computer:

On January 27, 1998, 19 year old student Roland Clarkson discovered the prime number 2^3,021,377-1. This number...using software written by George Woltman and Scott Kurowski...Clarkson, one of several thousand volunteers contributing to the Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search (GIMPS) found the number on his ordinary 200MHz Pentium Desktop Computer.

The 1996 edition says:

The largest known twin primes are 1706595 x 2^11235-1 and 1706595 x 2^11235+1, found on August 6, 1989 by a team in Santa Clara, CA.

I suppose the format for credits will be similar to the ones above, which is fine with me. I also dreamed to appear in that book too, but I never got close to getting a record.

P.S. I think the TIPS (twin internet prime search) sounds better than the TPS (twin prime search).

If you don't like the logo or you want to propone another logo, tell me.

Before the end of the week I'll ask Kirk Pearson to add our project to his site, I think that some other guys will join us after that publication.

Of course it would be better if we have automatic site as soon as possible, but in the nigth I usually sleep
