I have started sieving of n=195001, kmin=1, kmax=2e9, without even k's. Now I'm at p=750 billion, 1,117,152 k's left, sieving rate is 1 k every 0.3 sec.

It is a Celeron 1.2Ghz. I will sieve for at least three weeks, but I'm sure that optimal sieving depth is far bigger.

Of course, when I finish sieving, I will release the candidates for distributed LLR'ing.

New users can e-mail me with their desired range (and completion status) at moo.the.cow800 AT gmail.com. (use the @ symbol instead of "AT", as I don't want spambots getting my e-mail). I'll immediately update the range reservation thread after receiving one of those messages, so others will know what ranges are taken.

gribozavr,

If you want to sieve, sieve n=195000, NOT 195,001. Use k=100,000,000 to 5*10^9. Also, I don't encourage anyone else to sieve, since it's hard to keep track of factors found.

MooooMoo,

I have intentionally chosen n=195,001. This sieving will take more than a month, and I don't know where you arrive at that time. On the other hand, losing some 100M of k's is not a real problem. So, I'm starting sieving as you suggested, n=195000, kmin=1e8, kmax=5e9. But I'm not deleting the sieve file of 195,001 ;)

Ok I have completed the very first , very basic, very simple, (etc...) web pages for our search. I am planning to buy a domain for me (maybe I can put there these web pages) , for the moment the site is not always on line because my Pc is not always on line...

I forgot to tell you that if anyobdy has in mind and wants to create a different style, theme, logo, or create a completely different website, do it and send us.

Current logo I put on the site is the zodiac sign of Gemini.

I must finished previous ranges of other projects I joined, then I'll start full-time participation to twin Prime Search.
I think to register also a domain (something like www.twinprimesearch.org ) and put on it the website, if you like it.

http://www.twinprimesearch.org is fine, and it'll probably help us get onto Kirk Pearson's list of distributed computing projects.

Do you think that my website can be fine for the moment ?

Of course if anybody wants to propose his version of the website, show us or send me the entire website (if it is not HUGE) and I'll put on my server for comparison.

I haven't seen the website yet, so come online around May 2nd, 00:00 GMT so I can take a look. I don't know what timezone you're in, so feel free to adjust the time (I'm available from 22:45GMT to 05:45GMT).

One of the most important things to include would be a stats page, since that is what makes DC projects interesting. Have ranks by # of primes found and # of ranges completed (how many M).

what happens when a twin prime is found? I know we go to the next n, but does everyone stop their ranges & start a new one with the next n, or does everyone finish the range they have. Say I just started a 5M range & someone found a prime, its tested again, then if proven twin, do I need to complete that 5M range I just started?

It's your choice whether you want to continue or not. However, no one will be able to reserve new ranges on that n, so eventually, everyone will be working on the new n.

P.S. The selection of n=195000 was arbitary (just big enough for a new world record), but after a twin prime is found, I'll let everyone vote on the next n.
