Default Hello , I'm new here

Hello all !
What do you think about this ...
With PSI-methods we get a twin record faster as search in logical order .

Lightbulb PSI

Do you believe ,that we can use PSI to get faster the new twin record ?

What do you think about, to use PSI-methods, to find faster an new twin record ? I had read that between k=0 - 20000000000 we find one example.

Default Suggestion

Hello searchers!
Why we don't use APSIEVE and change later to NewPgen ? We can sieve 2100M k's.
I believe NewPgen read all left k's from APSIEVE and continue the sieve with higher factors.

Also I have tested just 2695M and no primes I found. U can reduse this interval.

regards

Norman

Today is TPS's first anniversary, and I'd like to thank everyone who participated in this project. Looking ahead, here are some overall stats:

Top 5000 primes found by PrimeGrid and TPS: 316
Rate at which prime numbers are found: 4.1 primes per day
Estimated day we'll be the second highest project in terms of number of primes found (assuming the current rate continues): May 24

Estimated day we'll be the top project in terms of number of primes found: July 1

Number of users who have found at least one prime for n=333,333: 102
Current sieve rate: 25.3 T per day
Estimated sieve depth by July 1st: 4560T
Estimated sieve density by July 1st: 321 candidates per M.

...and some bad news:
Estimated day the n=333,333 primes will drop off the top 5000 list:

(estimated from the rate that the first reported prime http://primes.utm.edu/primes/page.php?id=79274

went down and from eyeballing the graph at the bottom of this page:
http://primes.utm.edu/top20/sizes.php)

September 30, 2007

If we don't find a twin for n=333,333 by then, ranges for n=500,000 will be available for manual reservation.

You mean, by this date all the 333333 primes would have dropped off the list, or just the lowest of the lot would've /started/ dropping off?

Just the lowest 333333 primes will start dropping off. It'll take another ~3 months for all of the 333333 primes to be off the list.

What percent chance that we will have found it by Sept 07? Is it around 50-50?

MoooMooo--
Why do you think it would take 3 months for the "rest of" the 333333 primes to drop off? The size difference from 3*2^333333-1 to (1e12)*2^333333-1 is only 12 digits. That is not likely to be many primes at all, perhaps only a day or two to see all of the 333333 primes fall off once the first one goes.

You are right, but if there are 320+ n=333333 primes, then 320+ new primes with n>333333 have to be found before they will be dropped. So it will take 3 months to find these new primes.
