Most of the interesting stuff is the number of ways that y-cruncher managed to break the platform. IOW, GCP hasn't really been stress-tested on anything memory-intensive. When the application overwrites a terabyte of memory every few minutes, it causes all sorts of problems. Likewise, network-attached storage isn't 100% reliable.

Then there were other silly things like exceeding the EXT4 filesize limit.
You're the author of y-cruncher?

That's pretty cool!

Very nice work! Congratulations.

It is funny their API to get the digits counts the dot as the 1st digit, so every thing is shifted 1 digit compared to previous results:

I'm waiting for Star Wars Day this year: 2020-05-04.

Speaking of Star Wars Day, I noticed that it satisfies the equation 05*04=20. Anyway, here's pi to 300 digits after the decimal point:

Code:
3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375105820974944592307816406286208998628034825342117067982148086513282306647093844609550582231725359408128481117450284102701938521105559644622948954930381964428810975665933446128475648233786783165271201909145648566923460348610454326648213393607260249141273...
And in HEX (250 figures):

Code:
3.243F6A8885A308D313198A2E03707344A4093822299F31D0082EFA98EC4E6C89452821E638D01377BE5466CF34E90C6CC0AC29B7C97C50DD3F84D5B5B54709179216D5D98979FB1BD1310BA698DFB5AC2FFD72DBD01ADFB7B8E1AFED6A267E96BA7C9045F12C7F9924A19947B3916CF70801F2E2858EFC16636920D871...

Not specifically Pi-related, but fitting the general theme ... so the 4h was "may the fourth be with you" day, lots of Star Wars films getting shown on TV, I'm not a huge fan of that one because it's too commercial, Disney having turned into an EvilCorp analog of the evil empire in the film series, fittingly enough.

But on a genuinely funny note, today is Mother's Day (at least in the US), last night the SyFy cable channel showed a double feature consisting of The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001), they were calling it their Mummy's Day Marathon. :)

I don't know, and I am far too lazy to find out, whether Mother's Day is 9 months after Father's day in the US as it is in the UK.

I'm sure that's no coincidence.
