Default V 23.8

Okay, quick specs question.

I'm running Windows XP w/ a 1.7Ghz P4. 512MB RAM and version 23.8 of prime95. How much of a perfomance increase would I notice if I upgraded to version 24 or 24.16? (I've heard one of those doesn't do as good on the P4 as its older counterpart).
Thanks.

Why not simply try it and see?

I am curious: where did you get v24.16? The last version I am aware of is 24.14 + there was some 24.15 for test purposes on P4 HT machines?
Anyways, from what I've heard v24.11+ should be faster on everything - I have personally tested it on A64, P3 and AXP to confirm it.

Cruelty,

I suspect that Primeinator made a simple mistake of writing "24.16" instead of "24.14", and was not actually intending to state that a version 24.16 exists.

Yeah, I was a little uptight -- should've changed my cheese sooner. Fresh wedge of Swiss is refreshing!

You are correct, I meant version 24.14. Where can I get version 24.11? (I assume that the version available for download on the site is 24.14).

Usually you can see all the versions here, but right now the server seems to be down
BTW: you don't really need 24.11 or 24.12, as 24.14 should be faster according to my benchmarks... besides this is the latest official release, so it is recommended to use it, as other 24.xx builds were considered BETA.

Alright, thanks. I'm assuming the answer is yes, but can I download the new version and install it without interrupting the test I currently running for a 10 million digit candidate?

As it was mentioned several times in this forums, when updating prime95 version, make a backup of the entire prime95 folder first - just in case
