What an eye sore! But seriously, the "Other Projects" section is one crowded mess. Would it be possible to split that section into two? Other Factoring Projects: Code:
Factoring Lone Mersenne Hunters Operation Billion Digits NFSNET Discussion LMH > 79.3M ElevenSmooth Cunningham Tables GMP-ECM Code:
15k Search Riesel Prime Search Prime Sierpinski Project 3*2^n-1 Search Sierpinski/Riesel Base 5 Octoproth Search PSearch |

I vote for axn1's proposal. Good idea!

I liked the old style better. To have one overview on the main site of all forums that are there. An other forum where i am to find has all expanded by default.
http://gathering.tweakers.net And it goves you as the visitor a good overview where there are new messages and such. (but it is not based on vBulletin) I love it, and a list on the main site is not to bad i think? In one eyeview you see which forums there are in total (except possible moderator forums that are hidden from users). I would vote for an overview at the first page. Or a user setting that would allow to do this ;) |

The home page nows lists all the sub-forums and sub-sub-forums, it seems, with one exception: the "Completed Missions" sub-sub-forum of the "Marin's Mersenne-aries" sub-forum of the "Data" forum.
Is there a particular reason why "Completed Missions" is listed as a sub-forum, along with "Marin's Mersenne-aries" and "Teams", on the "Data" forum page http://www.mersenneforum.org/forumdisplay.php?f=21 but not on the http://www.mersenneforum.org/ home page even though both "Marin's Mersenne-aries" and "Teams" are listed there? |

"Completed Missions" is 3 levels deep. I think the homepage only shows the top 2 levels.

I am horrified to be an reactionist conservative, but I liked the way before better, too. anx1's idea might work, another option is to reduce the font size of the side projects. Screens become larger and larger, and it could be readable, even when fitting on one screen.
But it's no urgent matter, IMO. Yours H. |

I just added a bookmark so that I can look at all the movements on subfora dealing with "other projects"
http://www.mersenneforum.org/forumdisplay.php?f=25 But I must admit, the change of layout has caused interest in the other projects to drop dramatically which I think is a shame, given that many of them have given rise to astonishing prime discoveries Regards Robert Smith Last fiddled with by robert44444uk on 2006-02-20 at 19:56 |
