As for our 10T difference, we are both right, too, because they show as available at the reservation system, but are already done. I'll PM Matt.

So why is the SOB sieving stuff at Yahoo Groups? Why isn't it just hosted on their regular SOB server? That has got to be cutting in to the number of people sieving there..... at least it's stopped me.

I don't know why, but if the SOB poeple want, they can start a thread in PSP forums or use our sieve thread since we will be joining them in 2-3 weeks.

Because this is the double check effort. There was too much confusion when it was on the main forum. Too many people thought that it was the main sieve effort.

Thanks for the explanation Joe. :) I can understand now why they did it.

What about Citrix' proposition to officially join the efforts? At present there are anyway only two people sieving for SoB doublecheck (+you, Joe). With an short announcement on the yahoo group, and perhaps in the SoB-sieving-forum, there should not be too much confusion, if we write a short "Welcome to Sob sievers" here.
If you think it better to keep the cool way, one could simply write a PM to the currently active SoB sievers, too.

Any other ideas and thaughts are of course as well appreciated.

Do we need a poll, or a discussion at SoB?

H.

We are rocking right along on getting to the 82T in the sieving. I just took out another reservation up to 74T. I think that we are probably looking at reaching 82T at the end of the month or very shortly thereafter. So that would put some people ready to start reservations on the combined effort. Myself, I do intend to move into the combined stuff. I would imagine that some of the others from AMD_Users will too, although I also expect to see some loss in speed once we reach the combined ranges as some of the guys have put off working on their pet projects to help us meet our goal here. As I've mentioned previously it would be nice to see the combined reservation ranges accessible on the standard forums here and for SoB. Anyway, I guess the point I wanted to make was that we are definitely within sight of the end of the 82T sieving goal now.

I've just marked 134000 195000 as reserved for the PSP group. LTD/Citrix can suballocate it in this forum.

I think there are two options for the cooperation:

1. Use a combined thread - but where? SoB forum, Yahoo or here?

2. Assign bigger chunks (like that 134T-195T above) to the projects. Then, it could be: General overview in the Yahoo Group, and detailed assignments in the resp. forums.

I'd say that currently, option #2 seems not really bad, although it should somewhen be transformed to #1. Maybe when SoB is through with n<20M,p<2^50. Then, there could be a broader discussion.

Speaking for myself only of course, I have no problem with a combined thing being hosted on either SoB or PSP or both. My only issue is Yahoo and not caring to get involved in their games when there are already two perfectly good forums.

It would seem that if SoB had problems with people thinking they were involved in a different type of sieving (first, second, combined, etc.) then the reservation for the combined stuff could just be in a forum where the person had to ask for permission to join. I do not believe that we are talking about that many people anyway as sievers seem to be a definite minority as most people are interested in the "looking for the prime."

However your idea #2 Mystwalker works just fine too, and I have no problems with that. Meanwhile, if someone wants to join the Yahoo thing they can do that also. :) I think there is a happy medium in place now.
