The relevant question needs to be asked: Is the machine stable and error free?
If yes, nothing to worry about as it was designed to work under those conditions. Maintain the machines - duster every six months works well even when one smokes as many cigars and pipes as I do. Pipe cleaners are great for cleaning between the fins if the sink's design allows. |

Thanks for all the tips, glad to see it wasn't just my prescott running hot.
I took the lid off the case and now it runs prime95 at 60-62°C and idle temperature is below 40°C (haven't tested accurately). I will try to get a case fan though, since its pretty noisy with the lid off. But I can run prime95 again, yay!

If you want quality and silence then go for "PAPST" fans (I am using several 40mm, 80mm, 92mm and 120mm fans 4 years now without any sign of problem).

This might be well known, but no one seems to have mentioned it so…
I have two fans in my boxes. When the little one is not doing enough the bigger one cuts in for a while but it’s noisy as hell so I try to avoid letting it get that far. During the summer the big one was cutting in three, four times a day and the noise was driving me nuts. I moved both boxes four inches farther away from the wall and it hasn’t cut in since. Sometimes that’s all it takes. |
