Default p95v2212 problems on 80GB Seagate Drive on Win XP Pro

We have (or had) 7 machines running p95v2212 under Windows XP Professional with SP1 installed. Three of them have 80GB Seagate Drives, two using FAT32 and one using NTFS file system. When we went to NTFS (and SP1) we started getting automatic boots every couple of minutes and therefor have had to disable Prime 95. We are not having the problem with the two machines running the 80GB drives in FAT32 mode nor with the other machines. We had run prime 95 on the machine we are having trouble on for a couple of months previously.

Obviously we could have a newly developed hardware problem that is only detected by Prime 95 but the probablility is less since we were running successfully before.

Has anyone else been having problems with NTFS on large drives under Windows XP Professional and is there any workaround other than reinstalling everything (not just Prime 95) under FAT 32?

Try this:

Switch write caching off...

Right click My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Disk drives -> Right click your disk drive -> Properties -> Policies -> Uncheck write caching

Default Turning Disk Write Caching off

To: Xyzzy

Thanks for the suggestion for turning disk write caching off. I tried it a few minutes ago but unfortunately it seems to have no effect on the problem. The machine still auto-boots as soon as Prime95 finishes loading. The other 6 machines running the same level of Win XP but with FAT32 file systems work fine.
