EDIT: Here it is: http://www.mersenneforum.org/showthr...ight=gigaflops 4.110 Gigaflops for the 3.055GHz P4. This means that the XBOX has over 23 times more power than a P4 desktop computer! Last fiddled with by jinydu on 2005-05-19 at 23:13 |

The xbox might have a new flaw kind of like the original xbox... the game mechwarrior has a error were you load on a speical save file which allows you to install linux on your xbox. even if we cant get double precision we might be able to doing something cutting performance in half but allowing us to emulate double precision how well it might still need to be found.

I know the 32 per CPU of the XBOX 360 seems high, but
remember this is single precision 32 bit floating point. The normally quoted gigaflops are for double precision 64 bit floating point. So a value for 32 bit fp is needed to put the numbers in perspective. With a CELL processor clocked at 4 GHz using all 8 SPEs it does 256 gigaflops SP but 26 DP max. No mention of the Power core. On the Top 500 a 2560 Opteron CPU cluster did 8061 gigaflops DP so 3.14 for one CPU (2.2 GHz). Real DP FP numbers from IBM 4 way p5 570 (1.90 GHz) 27.52 so one dual core would be 6.88 and three 20.64 DP. Last fiddled with by dsouza123 on 2005-05-20 at 02:58 |
