What is really cool with durons is that they are cheap and very overclockeables.
My duron 1600 runs p95 24h stable at 2100 Mhz with basic zalman al-cu air cooling ! By security, I currently use it at 2050 Mhz with more aggressive memory timings (171 Mhz underclocked ddr400 noname ram with cas 2.). I bought it last year in february for 32 euros and am still very happy with it... The lack of cache isn't a problem for computations like gmp-ecm, ggnfs sieving (it is for lanzcos matrix solving), and it is quite ok for prime95. |
