I've added the page timer thing back in... It is at the bottom of every page, just like before... Please let me know if you are consistently getting slow times... My goal is to have every page rendered in under one second... Thanks!

A tad slow at around 19.45 GMT today. Several slow loads, here just one example:
[code:1]phpBB Created this page in 9.584373 seconds : 16 queries executed : GZIP compression enabled : Debug Mode[/code:1] |

Yeah, I'm seeing it too...
We have a unique situation... Our hosting is "shared", so sometimes a different account will go bananas and use up all the CPU for the database server... If it happens just every once in a while there is no reason to switch servers, but if this starts getting frequent we can move pretty easily... It takes me about 15 minutes or so to move the database... Thanks for the heads up! |

Yep, I saw that too... :(
I talked to an engineer yesterday and he is going to try to find us a better server... |

Good news...
The engineer let us move to a very lightly loaded server so everything *should* be much faster now... Please continue monitoring the debug deal and let me know what kind of results you all get... Thanks! |

Hi Xyzzy,
I got about one eighth of a second on the heading-pages and about one fourth on forums with 2+ pages. Let's see what the timings will be on 'rush hours'. But probably they'll stay under one second.:D [code:1] phpBB Created this page in 0.116232 seconds : 13 queries executed : GZIP compression enabled : Debug Mode[/code:1] Cheers, Benjamin |

Xyzzy,
The new server doesn't seem to be a perfect solution... [code:1]phpBB Created this page in 8.527133 seconds : 13 queries executed : GZIP compression enabled : Debug Mode[/code:1] And when I opened this "Post a reply" page... [code:1]phpBB Created this page in 7.676177 seconds : 15 queries executed : GZIP compression enabled : Debug Mode[/code:1] Dan |

I'm not sure how flexible the debug line is, but it might help you, and all of us, to weigh the various quoted timings if you time stamped the page timer line each time the page was generated.
From this "post a reply page": [code:1]phpBB Created this page in 0.199449 seconds : 15 queries executed : GZIP compression enabled : Debug Mode[/code:1] And from the main forum index: [code:1]The time now is Wed Feb 26, 2003 4:34 pm[/code:1] Bruce |

Just so you know, I don't think I have ever seen a page generation time on this forum of more than 1 second. Maybe I use it during off peak hours, but I have had no problems.
