Default RIP Columbia and 7 astronauts, more martyrs to the cause....

I was in a good mood today, 'till I checked cnn.com from work.

I just hope this doesn't *kill* the Space Station program - we were out of space for too long as it was....

My dad woke me at 08:45 yesterday morning and told me that the shuttle had broken apart. I asked, "Destroyed?" He confirmed it. I immediately went down to watch the news. A little later I almost cried, not as much for the families and astronauts as I did for the space program itself. People sometimes say that most of my generation will travel in space to hotels and stuff, but a few weeks ago I realized at this rate it would probably not happen in my life. I have been Space Camp twice and I am afraid of what will happen with NASA. They have already been damaged by budget cuts and their "Smaller, Faster, Cheaper" campaign hasn't been too successful (think of all those Mars mission failures). I also hope the best of luck to the crew currently on ISS. That must be terrible for them.
