Default Looking for Pentium 4 Celeron owner

and running Windows...

Can you post your version 22 benchmark results here. Then download version 23 pre-beta from ftp://mersenne.org/gimps/p95v231.zip and
post your benchmarks from that version. I want to make sure the
new FFTs for 128K L2 cache are indeed faster.

Thanks.

I know its futile to ask, but I don't recommend running v23 full time just yet, even though it should be a few percent faster on first time LL tests (Willamette and Northwoods too). I should run it through a few more QA tests first.

I assume then, that you are not interested in a processor with 512K L2 cache?

I have a Northwood and Willie, so I can test and benchmark those CPUs. I don't have a Celeron.

How about Athlon XPs? Will they benefit anything from version 23?

Nope. The change only affects large SSE2 FFTs.

I have a mobile 1.5GHz Celery, but it has a 256KB L2...

Post me your address and I'll have Newegg send you a new Celery courtesy of TPR... It will pop right into your TH7 just like that...

I'm serious...

Well, Del (outlnder) went out and bought a Celery today so I think he'll have some numbers for you by tomorrow... The offer to send you a Celery is still open, though... Either way, this optimization looks to be really interesting... :)

Thanks for the offer but it really is not necessary. I have every reason to believe the optimization will work as expected. It is simply an extension of the same change I made for 512K and 256K L2 caches.

On another note, I ran some more tests and 23.1 seems pretty safe. If you feel adventurous you can gain a few percent on your 33M exponents.

I'll take you up on that offer. v23 actually runs about 9% faster on my P4.

Hmm, prime95 isn't detecting your L2 cache size. Add the line "CPUL2CacheSize=128" until I can fix the bug.
