Hello,
I have mprime running on several Linux machines. One of them is a Laptop, and thus it's not frequently running because it drains the battery and makes noise to occupy the CPU. So I paused a few months, and now when starting it outputs the above message, while nevertheless continuing computations. It further says: Quote:
What can I do? I wouldn't want to continue work on my current mersenne number if the results are going to be thrown away. Neither would I of course throw away the work already done. Maik |

If you want to do first time tests, I would close prime95/mprime, delete the worktodo.ini file, and any of the files named something like px123456, qx123455, or similarly but starting w/ any other letter and having different numbers, and then restart prime95/mprime. If the exponents have been assigned to someone else, I don't think you will get credit for them unless you discover a prime as a double-check on an exponent that the person who now has the exponents made an error on. |

If you had a first time exponent and turn it in after someone else gets it as a first time, you should get credit.

To put it more simply. If the exponent that you are working on is larger than 13 million, and you have completed more than 5-10% of work, finish it. Otherwise, just delete the files as mentioned above and contact the server again.

Thanks for your answers.
I'm testing M21419329, and it's at 41%. But I'm not so much after the credit, it indeed annoys me to do double unnecessary work. I think I'll remove the files and start with a new assignment. Maik |

Well, it is not unnecessary work since every number is double checked. So your test will be useful and save somone from performing another test later on.

Ok - in the meantime I already got a new assignment, but I save those files away and first go finish the previous one before continuing with the new M.
I should probably occasionally run the new one also just to keep up communication about it :-) Thanks Maik |
