Would Prime95 get any speed boost using optimised compilers?
You can download Intel C and Fortran compilers from Intel's website (the unsupported version is free). There are some switches that can then optimise for Intel Pentium, P2,P3,P4 architectures. I use the Intel Fortran Compiler for some of my work. Got a 55% speedboost compared to GCC v3.1. Would these optimised compilers help GIMPS also? |

The working code of Prime95 is hand tuned assembly. So I don't believe so.
