4 checkins in a single calendar month from a single computer

With a little luck, it looks like this may be one of those rare months during which I check in 4 LL test results from my primary system. It is a 2.2GHz P-4 and completes a test in around 10 days. It checked in a result on the 1st and it is predicting checkins on the 11th, 21st, and the 31st. The final checkin is predicted for a little over 11 hours before the end of the day on the 31st, so there is not much room for down time. Already, the predicted checkin time has been creeping closer & closer to the deadline. I wonder if I will make it! This will probably be the last chance I have to do this since the exponents are taking longer and longer to test and I am right on the edge right now. Of course, those of you with even faster systems will be able to achieve this feat for a while yet.

Jeez! Stop typing on you machine! you gotta stop using it for the month or you might not make it!!! :D :(

With a little help from OCing you´ll be able to keep up with the exponent size growing for a while :) . P4s overclock pretty well (your P4 2.2 is a Northwood, right?).

Well, I don't know what's inside. It's a Sony VAIO system. I wouldn't want to play around with over-clocking anyway because this has been the most stable system of any of the desktops I have ever had. I am running EVERYTHING on it: GIMPS, Web Server, Virtual Private Network, and a dynamic IP resolution client, along with an assortment of virus protection, ad blocking, cookie management, and firewall software, plus surfing the web and downloading email and other files. It's really a loaded system, but it seems to be doing just fine. And I don't want to rock the boat.

As much as I would love the $100,000 prize, I realize that the chances of finding such an exponent are virtually nill. I have chosen instead to maximize my chances of finding a prime over trying for the prize. I realize, of course, that even in the current 16-17 million range, my chances are next to nothing, but it is still a LOT better than in the 33 million range! I came on-line with my P-4 system in the middle of last August and have completed 17 first-time LL tests since then. They have been averaging about 10 days each, but have slowly been creeping upwards as the exponents increase. Gary
