I've had an annoying problem ever since I bought my new computer, it crashes while playing games. First I thought my system overheated but after I installed some new fans and got the temperatures under 50 I started to believe that there is a problem somewhere else. I suspected that my power supply wasn't enough, but a friend of mine who works in a computer-store told me that it's enough. He told me to run Prime95 torture test to see if my memory is bad since I don't have a disk-drive so I could run memtest. The torture test run for about 10 minutes and crashed my computer. The computer doesn't reboot or anything, it just locks up to the screen and nothing moves.
I know this isn't the right place to ask about the crashing of a computer, but maybe you would know if it indicates that my memory is bad ? |

Sounds like an over heat or power supply failure.
Ask your frien if he has a really good power supply that you can test with. How is the air flow in the case? With four drives the ribbons may blow flow. You may try running with the sides off the case and see if that helps. |

The results.txt has no results... I'll have to test the system with another power supply. I think I got rid of the overheating by getting some casing fans and then opening the casing and placing a tablefan to blow air into the system. Still crashing :(

There is an ISO format boot image for memtest86 at http://www.memtest86.com that you could use to make a bootable CD if you have a CD writer. I know in Linux you can also set up memtest86 on the hard drive and add it to the lilo boot menu, you might be able to do something similar in Windows, perhaps using your second HD. |

Search on the forum for a boot diskette to test your system.
You definately have a problem with your pc. If it's still under waranty, go back to were you bought it. |
