Yeah it was retail with fan. I was amazed too.

It is Tbred-A core. I wasnt able to get it to 166MHz stable. I think my Gigabyte 7VRXP v1 doesnt have 5:1 divisor so PCI refuses to run too high. But over clock is real easy on the chip. Upper the vcore by 5%, it runs at 11.5x easy. (The thing specs at 1.5v). I didnt try very hard but I knew I have hit 1700MHz.

AMD announced that by 12/11, all 1700 and 1800 were TB. Just a matter of burn out whatever already on the market.

Yesterday Frys had an after-Christmas sale. XP2000+ with a ECS K6S5A for $99. But it didnt mention TB core so it must be Palomino.

Have you tried underclocking the CPU?

You meant lowering the multipler? Yes I did. At 10x, the highest it ran was 155MHz. I figured keeping at 133MHz for a stable bus was my best interest. Maybe I will try upper the multipler to 12x. That gives me xp1900+. But that requires higher the vcore and better cooling. The bowed fan runs pretty good now, by the way.
